A number of Hull cookie jars directly reflect Hull's early intentions to provide durable, everyday stonewear for American tables. Their best-known brown dip high-gloss "mirror" glaze appears on gingerbread men and a few other figures used for jars. These child-friendly jars appeared in a variety of bright colors, including a startlingly intense chartreuse. The popularity of these jars--and their contents--is indicated by a frequent "missing lid" or "lid only" notation on collectible sites.
The cookie jar for which Hull is best remembered, and most often discussed, is its Little Red Riding Hood jar, issued in 1943. While Hull issued one original design and developed designs for other accessories, it also provided wares for other manufacturers, among them Regal and Marcrest. The intense popularity of Little Red Riding Hood resulted in copies and labelling confusion which persists even today, along with considerable forgery.
